About The Ned: 

The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. 

Seven years after launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to be opening a Ned’s Club in the US capital, our fourth and newest location. 

The property… 

Ned’s Club Washington DC is a members’ club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President’s Park at 734 15th Street NW. 

The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-storey building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch. 

The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces.  

Reporting into the Food and Beverage Director and working alongside the restaurant operations team you will: 
  • Lead the bar team to prepare and serve up perfectly made drinks from our range of menus 
  • Own all people leadership tasks - including team recruitment, development and performance chats, onboarding new starters 
  • Train our bar team to be the friendly face that provides exceptional experiences, along with recommendations and suggested drinks 
  • Support the bar teams to work efficiently with preparing orders as they come in, keeping our servers and runners stocked with the drinks they need to deliver a seamless experience to our guests 
  • Oversee a presentable and polished operation that enhances the guests experience for all of our bars that are in full view of the guests. 
  • As the leader of the bar, you will be the guardian of outstanding hospitality and drink quality within your team, modeling behaviors, monitoring standards, and providing coaching and feedback where needed 
  • Maintain a safe and clean bar environment, protecting our guests and your teammates from any possible harm 

What you can bring to the role: 
  • Previous bar supervisory or leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering outstanding drinks, service, and people management 
  • Our customers and guests expect the best, so high standards are essential 
  • A commercial mindset is needed in all our leaders. As Head of Bars, you will take overall accountability for delivering excellent financial performance and results 
  • You’ll have great all-round drinks knowledge, and ideally experience with cocktails and/or wines 
  • Taking the lead on all orders necessary for the beverage program, including maintaining par levels on a weekly basis. 
  • A creative flair is always welcome – we host regular cocktail competitions with our winning drinks being added to the menus 
  • Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualification is preferred 
  • Ownership over beverage inventories on a monthly basis 
  • Responsible for leading all seasonal menu changes for our beverage program 
  • Prepare and furnish all reports for forecast, inventory, budget information, and cost controls by implementing effective controls of labor and product cost
