We are seeking a dynamic Pastry Chef to join our LINE Austin culinary team.  A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the hospitality industry and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities

  1. Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
  2. Establish and maintain good communication and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
  3. Minimize number of accidents occurring from unsafe practices by ensuring applicable health and safety standards are understood and applied in the conduct of all work activities
  4. Perform all duties in a safe manner and monitor the actions of others
  5. Create and prepare dessert menu items with the Executive Chef and prepare dessert items before service begins, and plate items as they are requested during service
  6. Responsible for breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets and room service meal periods
  7. Order food and supplies for all menus
  8. Schedule all necessary baking staff to run and organized and efficient operation
  9. Supervise and train bakers and other kitchen workers as they assist in the preparation of dessert items
  10. Train other cooks/bakers in pastry techniques
  11. Prepare baked goods such as breakfast breads and breads for the hot kitchen and dining room
  12. Research and develop new recipes, test recipes in the kitchen to keep the menu up to date and interesting, and cost the recipe and submit to the Chef for approval
  13. Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions
  14. Maintain “open door” communication with employee
  15. Ensure staff understands their job expectations before holding them accountable
  16. Maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files
  17. Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements
  18. Attend relevant meetings
Core Competencies

  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. Three (3) years related experience in hospitality or service industry preferred
  3. Strong communication skills
  4. Collaborative spirit

  6. Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Opera PMS   
  7. Positive Attitude
  8. Eye for Detail
  9. Problem solving abilities
