We are seeking a dynamic Staff Accountant to join our team.  A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the hospitality industry and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain good communications and team work with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
  2. Receive and verify invoices, check requests, and expense reports
  3. Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures, i.e. proper approvals are obtained, appropriate support documentation is attached, prices and quantities are verified, etc.
  4. Prepare batches of invoices for entry into accounting systems
  5. Enter invoices for payment in a timely manner, ensuring all expenses are accounted for in the correct month
  6. Manage weekly check runs and communicate with Director of Finance to ensure cash flow is being monitored
  7. Prepare and distribute vendor checks
  8. Record ACH and wire payments in accounting systems and handle reconciliation of credit card charges and payments
  9. Maintain the accounts payable and receivable aging lists
  10.  Ensure all financial transactions are supported and maintained with proper documentation and adhere to internal controls and audit standards. 
  11. Implement and maintain organization of workspace and vendor files
  12. Keep AP related filing up to date to facilitate ease of research
  13. Reconcile vendor statements and assist in researching and resolving discrepancies which includes requesting missing invoices from vendors
  14. Correspond with vendors, respond to inquiries and maintain positive vendor relationships
  15. Perform cash handling functions for the hotel and reconcile all cash dropped at the front desk
  16. Post city ledger payments in property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts
  17. Perform follow-up billing, credit collection documentation and inform Director of Finance of any potential uncollected accounts
  18. Assist with reimbursable invoicing
  19. Set up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy
  20. Process month-end and year-end AP and AR closing/ Perform daily cash reconciliation 
  21. Provide month-end support to accounting team
  22. Reconcile daily activities across PMS., POS, accounting, and sales systems 
  23. Actively participate in the management of the PO System and corporate policies and procedures
  24. Participate in scheduled departmental and administrative meetings as requested / Perform other duties as assigned. 
Core Competencies
  1. Associate degree or equivalent preferred
  2. High School graduate or equivalent required
  3. Hospitality experience preferred
  4. Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English Language     
  5. Excellent organizational skills
  6. Strong Math Skills and English Fluency required 
  7. Ability to multitask
  8. Excellent communication skills
  9. Ability to understand and work in various accounting systems
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet and familiar with Accounting software
  11. Work well under pressure, requires being a team player
  12. 10-key machines by touch and be familiar with the use and maintenance of other applicable business machines

Compensation: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
